Only if it includes the WiFi card comes pre-installed, otherwise it’s an add-on kit. The socket is straightforward to access; models with it built in under the IO shield demand you fully disassemble your PC just to swap the card. Both approaches seem worthwhile.

If you need to connect antennas via a PCI slot, it’s better to use a PCIe card instead. That way, you avoid using an E keyed M.2 slot that wasn’t designed for this purpose.

They must add the punch outs on the IO panel to avoid wasting an expansion slot. Even though I dislike it, the weak metal tends to loosen the antenna ports over time, which is at least better than nothing.
