you can transfer windows 10 installation media to your usb drive and install it directly onto your system without using a dvd. you can use tools like bootable windows or create a bootable usb image and boot from that instead. then you can transfer the installed windows to its original machine if needed.

Rufus recommends converting an external HDD to a bootable Windows version that's more compact. USB drives are very affordable.

Why not rely on a USB drive for an installer? It would perform optimally in this situation. Alternatively, place the installer on an external hard drive. Or start from the network.

Have you experimented with a USB installation on another computer? Moving the drive with Windows installed onto the desired PC is possible. Network installation functions well on most recent systems.
