If you pay $80 a month for spectrum, I’d expect you to own your own modem and network. I’ve never seen an apartment complex offering Internet this way. Usually they provide coaxial service to every unit and place a node inside the building to serve residents. Each person pays their own bill and receives a gateway (modem/router). This seems like the most confusing arrangement I’ve ever heard in the United States.

The service comes from Spectrum, and I see a review from Cottonwood Residential, the owner of my property. It seems every complex they manage uses this solution. Overall, it works well, and I won’t be relocating since this area offers such great value.

It's still not the best approach. I wouldn't want to reside in a location without a reliable cable internet service from the provider.

searching for a wireless router compatible with Dd/Wireless Router as client using clientmode, i encountered challenges similar to previous attempts where routing tables and double NAT delays caused slow connections.

I own a basic Netgear WNR2000 that can't use bridge mode. I'm considering the Netgear R6220 which is available for $60 at Best Buy. I'm hesitant about installing DD-WRT or custom firmware, but if needed I found a guide here: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Cl...e_Wireless

Did you reach out to Spectrum to inquire about direct installation at your location?

Yes, the Netgear R6220 can work as a wireless bridge. The issue is you need to enter your apartment Wi-Fi login through software before accessing the internet. I've never seen a consumer router with an integrated web browser for signing into a web-based account. You can connect to the apartment router, but you won't be able to log in. You might want to look at local e-waste centers or Craigslist for a used netbook or old laptop. Your only alternatives are to continue using your laptop as a bridge or follow Dalekphalm's advice.

I previously used this in a legacy Wireless G configuration, the main change being only one device connected to the bridged router. If you select this path, check out the peacock discussion on the DDWRT forums for full instructions on properly flashing your router. By strictly adhering to those steps, you should achieve reliable results. Then simply refer to the linked guide.
