Hi there, I’m upgrading my CPU because I think it’s limiting my GPU performance. My current setup is an i7-4790 and a GeForce GTX 1080ti. I’m thinking about switching to AMD Ryzen and was considering the 3700x or 2700x models. Which one would be best to prevent bottlenecks? Also, what motherboard should I get that fits those specs? Thanks!

Based on my experience with a 4790k and 1080ti, I’d probably hit performance limits in some titles at 1080p, but you should be fine with 1440p and definitely 4K.

What are your goals for performance? Which budget or country should we focus on?

Thanks for the inquiry. I'm currently playing at 4K quality.

At 4K resolution shouldn't cause a CPU bottleneck. Which games do you enjoy? How do you usually identify potential performance issues?

Mmm, I don't think I understand the question about the performance but look, this is my GPU: https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/G...US-11GD#kf And my budget is 500 dollars for CPU and motherboard. I'm from Mexico

Currently I'm struggling with Call of Duty Warzone. It's running poorly, with high CPU usage almost all the time and minimal GPU activity (around 10%). This isn't the case with other games like RE2 remake or Doom. I've looked into many tutorials for reducing CPU load in Warzone, but it still doesn't work well for me.

1080p options available but higher resolutions may exceed the budget. New RAM models are priced above expectations. The latest CPU won’t fit within the current budget. PCPartPicker compiled this list on April 29, 2020. Keep in mind, the Ryzen 3 3100 will launch later in May, so parts for Mexico might be delayed. If you can’t find a non-X Ryzen 5 3600, it’s a smart pick—CPU performance improved from 4 cores/4 threads to 4 cores/8 threads.

At 4K resolution it's crucial to maintain a high IPC to keep CPU throttling below 60fps. On my i7 2600k these throttles were around the 30s and noticeable. With the i7 6700k they were in the 40s and still perceptible. The i7 8700k showed high 50s and was easy to spot on screen but not felt. The R7 3700X performs similarly to the i7 8700k, so I'd choose that one.

That's correct, I missed the updated RAM specs. I should be able to handle it a bit better. I'm currently playing at 2160p with around 60 frames per second.
