I’m planning to assemble a Ryzen 3200G or 3400G system for a basic office setup. I need a reliable motherboard that won’t fail easily, without overclocking or heavy workloads. I’ll likely stick with a single 8GB G.Skill Aegis RAM and have two slots available. The essentials are USB 3.0 (v2), an M.2 port, HDMI output, and possibly PCIe x16 plus another PCIe slot—two or more would be fine. Prices in the 40-50€ range look reasonable, so I’m open to suggestions. Any advice on which models to avoid?

You can typically obtain a B450M DS3H or S2H for around $200 to $300, depending on the condition and seller.

for the a320, the best board I’d recommend is the s2h. regarding the b450, options include ds3h, s2h, pro 4, and pro vdh max. there’s also an a320 model from asus that uses four sic 639s—though I haven’t located one in stock anywhere. I recalled it being called the a320i-k, which appears to be one of the top a320 boards available. Edited August 2, 2020 by TofuHaroto

The DS3H costs about 63€ while the S2H is near 56€. The main distinction seems to be the extra RAM and PCIe slots in the DS3H.

Absolutely, that's a good deal from a VRM perspective. Overall, it's reasonable and should comfortably support an APU.

They're quite similar to what I already know. The B450M S2H offers a much better value at €56 compared to the boards you chose. The Asrock B450 HDV is essentially on par with an A320 model. In short, even an A320 can run smoothly with a 3200G. The main consideration is whether you intend to add a 6-core processor with a dedicated GPU later—since that would justify the extra €10-15 for a suitable B450 board.

I question the extent of improvement on this platform since the replacement PC still has a dual-core Athlon from 2008. However, I value a better-quality board for the modest additional cost, and I believe I’ll choose that option. Thanks a lot!

I’m curious about the necessary BIOS updates for the 3000 series chips. Should we anticipate receiving a board with an updated BIOS to support them? @Mateyyy @TofuHaroto

currently, the majority of B450 boards include the latest BIOS. If the packaging indicates 'Ryzen 3000 ready,' that confirms it. However, if your board came with an older BIOS, you can contact the manufacturer or a local electronics store to request an update. As mentioned, most B450 boards now ship with the updated BIOS.
