Your budget ranges from 1500 to 2200 dollars, with a preferred size of 16 inches.
You prefer a screen resolution of 2K at 165Hz, though flexibility is acceptable.
You require a portable laptop rather than a desktop replacement.
Battery life is important, but longer is preferable.
You’d like to play games on your laptop; if yes, please list the desired titles and their preferred settings (Low, Medium or High).
Some games are needed, but you also use other programs that need a GPU.
You have tasks such as photo and video editing, along with Photoshop and 3-D desktop applications.
You need at least 1TB of storage, preferably 2 or more TB, with a second M2 slot and upgradeable RAM.
If you plan to buy from specific sites, please share their links.
You prefer keeping your laptop for 3 to 4 years minimum.
You need an optical drive—either DVD ROM/Writer or Bluray ROM/Writer, etc.—and currently have none.
Please mention any brands you favor and those you dislike, along with your reasons.
I’m open to almost any quality brand, except third-party sellers.
You want USB-C power delivery and charging capability; I’m tired of carrying heavy adapters like my current HP.
I’d prefer purchasing soon, as I have upcoming travel plans.
I also need to clarify that I do not want a touchscreen.

2K 165Hz is recommended but flexibility is possible.

For the Asus ROG Zephyrus and TUF A16, 2K displays aren't included. You may need to specify the application you'll be using. Currently, these are the two options I've identified for Microcenter:

I'm not looking for a touch screen either. I'm uncertain about the apps I'll need. I'd like something that offers more processing power in its GPU. The 2024/2025 TUF and Zephyrus models include a 2K display. The ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) GA605 | Gaming laptops | ROG - Republic of Gamers | ROG USA comes with a 2K screen. The 2024 Zephyrus G16 supports gaming and creative work on the move, running on the newest AMD Ryzen™ CPU and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 GPU, making it smooth for games and creative software. rog.asus.com
ASUS TUF Gaming F16 (2025) | Laptops For Gaming | ASUS USA offers premium gaming experiences. It features Intel Core Ultra 9, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, a 2.5K 165Hz display, and meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards. www.asus.com

Discovered an A16 model featuring a 2K display:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRCWY9VT?tag...EwxyLmLP8z
It has a bit of limited memory/storage, but it stays well within the price range—making it a decent option if you plan to upgrade your own storage and drives.
Is there only one M.2 slot available, or are there others?

I enjoy that one, though I won't purchase from a third-party seller on Amazon.

When you're unsure about the apps you'll need, it's worth questioning why you're proceeding at all.

My laptop is almost five years old now and it's really struggling. I need something better for gaming while traveling, so I'm looking beyond an ultra book.

My laptop will turn 12 next month, so it might be wise to address that before the tariff issues become more severe.

I previously received excellent assistance from them.
They understand their offerings well and can usually inform you about discounts you might not otherwise discover.
You are likely considering a ThinkPad model.
Specifications for certain models can be tailored.
