I examined various Lenovo models; the ones fitting my requirements are significantly beyond my budget, and the available options with M2 slots and RAM are already fixed.

There could be alternatives you missed, and Lenovo consistently offers strong sales.
The extremely compact devices will include fixed components.
However, the workstation models offer upgradeable parts and allow customization to your preferences.
I believe I've discovered my ideal laptop. It's a bit pricier than I planned, but I'm really impressed by the toolless chassis design.
What are the opinions? Other good sources for a 8840HS/8845HS laptop.

I do have a Legion Go, it's awesome. It's great for gaming when I don't need my PC.
Techpowerup states the 5070 mobile has 8gb storage. The listing on Newegg appears to contain an error.
