The challenge with 9000 series processors lies in the soldered plate design. The adhesive used under the plate on 8000 series chips is of low quality. This setup allows for lower operating temperatures. The highest safe CPU temperature for your chip is around 100°C, but 80 to 85°C works well after stress testing with AVX loads. Avoid relying on high gaming temperatures when choosing a delidding method.

Generic burners don't reflect actual conditions... gaming does. Unless he's testing his gear, this is the maximum temperature he'll reach (during tough games or video rendering).

It concentrates solely on CPU temperature rather than other metrics. I didn’t allow my system to shut down or rely on gaming performance while handling intensive calculations. Most applications don’t run well beyond eight threads (though some exceptions exist). This makes the test also a "burn-in" phase, where certain thermal pastes need higher temperatures to properly set up. I think that’s correct. High-end chips with large power draw are usually built with soldered components. A useful point: AMD has used soldered IHS plates since the AM2 era (6400+ Windsor). I’m more comfortable with AMD’s soldered designs. I don’t worry about your gaming temperatures during these tests. The first stage checks heat, the second checks individual parts. I use OCCT which supports AVX, AVX2, and even AVX512 for older AMD models. It includes LinPack stress tests for memory and also offers GPU testing. Just remember it’s designed to run the processor at high temperatures, so monitor the readings carefully. (Reminder: not a typical video game)

He has fewer than eight cores, yet some games run smoothly on them when set up correctly. Using standard clocks and coolers is usually sufficient unless there are assembly issues or case problems. There’s no need to alter anything; everything should function within manufacturer guidelines, ensuring longevity even if you’re not careful. It’s unfair to push people toward warranty risks or misleading them about the situation. If you choose to proceed, it’s fine, but make sure you’re not confusing anyone about the necessity of changes.

Consider collecting solid data for comparison. I can provide a rough estimate. You should expect to save around 10 cents on average, especially during full load situations. At 8700K with the HT drops, you'll see about 15 cents saved. A helpful reference is the De-lidding tutorial for soldered AMD CPUs from 2009: https://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/s...p?t=332705. You're in good hands here—this was done long before modern components were available.
