2 years experience using very little silicon adhesive—just a single dot at each opposite corner. I believe reworking isn’t needed at all.

I handle the edges carefully. I don’t feel like setting up the whole machine on its side for the CPU. The constant shifting of the IHS is annoying while I try to manage it.

Relaying might fix issues like poor contact with the cooler or block if necessary. I remember needing to replace it several times after a delid; the cooler wouldn’t sit properly on the die and eventually required finding the correct cooler/block for a delidded chip. In most situations, a full reseal isn’t essential—just securing the corners to keep the lid in place works well.

I've also noticed many using excessive adhesive, which ruins the goal of delidding, leaving a large gap between the IHS and die. So, probably best to think carefully.
