Samsung Odyssey G7 28-inch screen often loses connection and reconnects unexpectedly.
Hello, I just purchased two Samsung Odyssey G7 28" monitors. Occasionally, one of them shuts down and Windows alerts about a device disconnecting. I haven’t used the second monitor much because I mainly turn it on for game development work, which hasn’t been done much lately. I’ve searched online for fixes but found few that helped. I’ve tried disabling G-SYNC, set the output color depth to 8bpc in the NVIDIA Control Panel, and turned off HDR. My system specs are: Intel i7 13700k, MSI RTX 4080, Kingston Fury 32GB RAM at 5600MT/s, DDR5, connected via DisplayPort 1.4 cables. Any advice would be appreciated.
that's when it happen on my 32inch version of the same screen... but try updating firmware on your monitor. it's only 1 port that can be used, clearly marked.. use a fat32 formated usb.
Well, I'm not sure this will help. I have G-Sync active in game mode with two monitors—my Samsung Odyssey G7 curved 32-inch at 240Hz and 1440p. Both are running at 240Hz on an SLI configuration using two 2080Ti graphics cards. I'm using a DP 1.4 cable. At least the second monitor is a Dell 3007 from around 2006, but it still shows clearly at 60Hz. After switching to Active DP-DVI converter and using a DUAL-DVI cable, the issue appears only when streaming Netflix in Chrome. It seems to start again after I enabled HDR again, though I usually skip HDR in fullscreen. Sometimes it hides if I turn off HDR in video settings. EDIT: It reappeared with Netflix after I turned HDR back on, but I only use HDR in fullscreen. I'll check if disabling it in video mode helps. The HEVC video extension is the Netflix codec.**
I've kept my second screen active for a while without it working properly. When I run YouTube on it with music, it's been fine. The main problem is I don't want it running constantly. I'm wondering if turning it off actually disables it and then it keeps restarting to try to show an image that isn't there. This is just my guess. I've already turned it off and checked in Windows to see if only one monitor appears, then reconnects. I'll also look into the display settings to confirm.
