An Origin discount was offered right before the Steam Summer sale, indicating these promotions occur regularly.
Maybe I don't rely on Origin very often, so I wouldn't be aware of it.
ME1 & ME2 came out on Steam before Origin launched. From what I understand, most major EA titles from mid-2011 onward have stayed exclusive to Origin. They're still a bit frustrating, but it doesn't seem like the developers are intentionally splitting trilogies across platforms.
