Windows 7 needs activation for upgrades. You can legally obtain a free activated Windows 7. If you're using a home version, there are options to upgrade to Pro. Windows 10 is available as both Home and Professional editions.

I don’t understand this. Windows 7 Home Basic and Home Premium are different from Windows 10 Home, and Windows 7 Professional is not the same as Windows 10 Pro.

You can find free Windows 7 activation options through official sources or community platforms. Upgrading from home to a professional version typically requires purchasing the appropriate license.

No free option exists for Windows 7. The RC edition is the only free release from Microsoft, though it’s a preview version. Not confirmed if it will function. Here’s the link: https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4770-...64bit.html

A valid license key is required to access the download option.

I'm not familiar with any M$ OS distribution. No free operating system like that exists I know of. Otherwise, people wouldn't upgrade from Windows. (Even now millions use Windows 7, and I bet some still run Vista. And if you really need it, you can still work on XP.) Forked versions of Firefox and Chromium will support XP.
