ryzen 5 3600 high temps
Lately I purchased the Ryzen 5 3600 and noticed some unusually high temperatures. When idle it reaches 45-55°C with the stock cooler, and during gaming at 50% load it spikes to 85°C. I'm currently running at 4.1GHz, but even at stock speed the temps remain consistent. I've tweaked the voltages without success and just completed a Cinebench test where temperatures hit 90°C.
Is the cooler positioned correctly? Are the BIOS and chipset drivers current? The standard cooler is designed for normal use. Running it overclocked will cause overheating. If you're using a Gigabyte or MSI board, force it to apply a negative voltage offset since they typically overvolt at stock settings.
I verified the cooler, applied after-market thermal paste, and updated the BIOS. My motherboard remains an ASRock B450Pro.
The stock cooler isn't very effective, a high temperature of 80°C is typical for that model.

I performed the stress test with CPU-Z and achieved 89°C. I think if I kept pushing it further, the temperature could rise even more.
