I've begun overclocking my 3600X!
Stock: 3.8GHz at 1.41V – Cinabench scores:
Single Core 481, Multi Core 3180 with 75C Max
OC: 4.275GHz at 1.325V – Cinabench scores:
Single Core 477, Multi Core 3554 with 65C Max
For heavy gaming (1440P ultra with RTX 2080 Super), some light video editing (usually shadowplay quick exporting) – is this the right idea or not?

The Ryzen 3rd gen CPU should remain untouched, allowing PB and PBO to handle their tasks.

I agree with RodroX
I had my 3600x oc'd to 4.350gh
On 1 31v
Cb score mc 3944 and sc 509
But went back to Pbo and just letting it do it after reading and watching buildzoid's videos on 3000 cpu overclocking.
I don't want to degrade my cpu to a premature death.
Amd really has done a lot of work in handling the overclocking of the 3000s
And I'm looking forward to seeing what the 4000s can achieve.

My Ryzen 5 3600 with PB + PBO achieves around 3650 points in CR20. With a better cooler, it might perform even better. Of course, PBO still makes the CPU feel warmer with my current budget cooling option.

Using the h110i with noctua Ippc 3000 at 20,000 RPM assists my 3600x in reaching 20 km/h.
Modified to 3874–3900 RPM.
Switching Sc to 503–509.

They really messed up the manual OC by barely making any changes... XD

I'm one of the early adopters, and for me, an OC with my CPU isn't worth it. The improvements are at best, if any exist, after hours of testing I couldn't achieve anything better than what stock settings plus PBO can already provide. It feels like a lottery, and I didn't have much to work with when I started.
I'm not stupid—I know there are much better CPUs available, and I'm aware that the Ryzen 5 3600 you can buy now is significantly superior to the first models from 2019. Still, in general, AMD and motherboard configurations usually perform quite well.

I share most of your points.
Many individuals overlook that manually modifying the Ryzen 3000 affects single-core performance; there are still applications designed for strong single cores. Let it function as intended.
A suitable cooler and rapid RAM with tighter timings would suffice—other adjustments aren’t necessary.
Regarding a concern, some motherboard manufacturers push users to choose products that don’t follow Intel or AMD standards by forcing compatibility in a competitive race.

I tried it well but chose not to damage my CPU.
The 2000s were much more forgiving on the OCs.
We should remember the absence of BIOS updates during the time of the first upgrade.
Asus hasn't released a BIOS update since the last one in November 2019 for my Asus Rog Strix X470.
