It requires roughly 6GB to 7.5GB of your memory while playing bf4...
You understand what average really means. If even the average frames per second stays below 60, the frame rate will fall to around 30 and sometimes even drop higher. My 290X struggles to keep 60 fps consistently in BF4 Ultra at 1080p with 2XMSAA, especially during explosions where it drops to 40 fps. I imagine a 280X would fall even more. If you focus only on AMD cards, it sounds like a mid-range GPU. But since Nvidia offers much more powerful GPUs than the 290X, it makes sense to say a 280X is now a low-end model. Regarding the 8350, your CPU test at 1440p was GPU-intensive—great effort!
I just found the first CPU benchmark I saw, because I’m at work and can’t check all sites. The 280x is way off the low end—it’s mid-range, and at 1080p it’s high or ultra. Even without AA, it still runs BF4 really well. I’m not a big AMD fan, but this is definitely not low-end in 100 years.
This positions the GTX 750, 750 Ti, and GT 740 in the current market landscape. The R9 series cards remain popular across various platforms, while mid-range options like the R9 280/285/280X and GTX 960 are still relevant. It's worth noting that these cards were designed for a game from 2013, when the HD 7970 was priced around $300. There hasn't been a GTX 970 to directly compare them to. Even if the R9 280X were considered a modern entry-level card, it would still function similarly in games like BF4.
