RTX 4080 installation leads to booting repeatedly on the new graphics card
Hey everyone, I hope today brings good news for all of us. I'm facing a strange problem and haven't received any assistance from ASRock, MSI, or NVidia. It's really frustrating. I recently completed a new build and am experiencing graphics difficulties. I've tried almost every solution I could think of. The issue seems to be related to my ASRock Taichi Carrara motherboard. It functions with the 970 and 2080 models, but not with my MSI RTX 4080 Suprim. On other systems using the same power supply (just one with sufficient capacity), it boots normally and even allows me to use IGPU mode. However, once the RTX 4080 is installed, it keeps looping through error codes on the display and never reaches BIOS. Only RAM, CPU, PSU, and GPU are present. With over a decade of building experience—having assembled hundreds of computers—I still don't understand what's going wrong. I've contacted all three manufacturers, but they just keep redirecting me to others without offering any real help. Even after explaining my situation, they haven't provided any guidance. This build is for someone who has worked hard and cares deeply about helping others, especially during tough times. He simply wants to play games and enjoys the experience. I really need your support!
P.S.: I realized that knowing the system specs might help. My setup includes an ASRock Taichi Carrara Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 64GB Corsair Vengeance, MSI RTX 4080 Suprim 12GB, and EVGA Supernova 1000W. No other components are installed yet.
Have you checked both PCI-E ports, perhaps just to verify? A BIOS update might help. The GPU seems to have a hardware switch for Silent of Gaming—try switching modes. Most importantly, identify the error codes it’s displaying; they might point to a power issue.
I've tested both slots already. The BIOS is updated to the latest version. It has options for gaming and work modes, which I've used before. The boot sequences it uses are just standard startup codes, then it restarts. I might record a video if needed. I don't think it's a power-on reset because I tried it in another system with the same power supply and it functioned correctly, though I'm not sure.
I'm just considering using the boot codes now. This might help identify where it's stopping or looping. I wasn't thinking about a power problem—more about the motherboard. Probably what @Renegade042 suggested, trying different RAM or just installing one stick at a time.
I've tested various RAM setups without a riser. I plan to share a video showing the code changes.

I would push the slot to PCIe 4.0, as the board would otherwise default to AUTO or 5.0. Considering potential negotiation problems.
