Upgraded to a 4070 from a 1080, but in R6 the game I mainly play still runs at the same FPS. What’s going on?! Your specs: 700 watt PSU, i7 8700k, 64 GB RAM (slow), Samsung 990 Pro SSD 4TB, running at 1080p with about 240-280 FPS. Both GPUs used, and it fully utilizes 1080 but only 40% for the 4070 in the benchmark results from Jan 2024.

What is the frame rate you're receiving? Which power source are you connected to?

What issues have you encountered? What solution are you aiming for? Have you checked performance metrics during gameplay? You'll need to determine if the 4070 isn't receiving sufficient data or if your GPU isn't operating at the intended voltage/clock speed. If you're using 1080p, with the 8700k specs, it could point to a bottleneck where you're demanding excessive frames—1080p is definitely a challenge, especially with such high settings. Need more details for a clearer answer.

Review your experiments and provide the details. Compare the precise configurations with the observed outcomes.

It seems like the issue might be due to a slow CPU, especially since yours isn't as fast as it used to be.

It seems a bit unusual, doesn’t it? The 8700k wasn’t that new compared to the 2080’s release. There were definitely better frame rates on the older GPU. The 4070 still outperforms the 1080, so an FPS boost is logical, even if modest. I hope the forum shared more details about this. It’s unclear whether it’s v-sync or a frame limiter in games or the NVPC.

Perform a complete graphics driver update. The 8700K can sometimes limit performance on an RTX 4070, especially at higher resolutions. It’s best to aim for 1440p now. You can also boost the i7 8700K’s clock speed to improve overall speed.

only a handful are affected, and the 4070 works well too. However, not all games slow down noticeably. Short version: it handled 1080 smoothly, but with 4070 it’s even better—surprisingly so.
