I replaced my motherboard and CPU with an MSI MAG Z390 Tomahawk and an i7 9700k. These were the only changes, yet the PC still boots into BSoD or freezes during automatic repair. I thought updating drivers was necessary, but I can't reach Windows. All system components are detected properly by the motherboard. I attempted to create a bootable USB using Windows Media Creation Tool, but it gets stuck on a frozen loading screen. Please let me know if you need further information.

There might be several possible causes... PSU might not be powerful enough, faulty RAM, defective CPU, bad MMO, overclocking problems, compatibility issues, caching problems, damaged cables, and more.

Your previous motherboard and CPU were outdated. It's usually wise to reinstall Windows for better compatibility.

Avoid relocating a Windows install on a different motherboard configuration. Investigate the reason for freezing when using the USB loader. Ensure you're using a USB 2 port, mouse, and keyboard. If not possible, repair the USB stick by replacing the key.

Start a brand new setup or launch in safe mode, though doing so doesn’t ensure you can remove the previous drivers.

You're seeing the same steps repeated because you're reformatting the USB and running Windows Media Tool again.

To provoke such behavior on a healthy system, attempt booting at extreme parameters like 5 GHz with 1.12V. Typically you'd see clock watchdog timeout or unrecoverable errors, but rarely reaching that stage. Freezing after a USB installation confirms this pattern.
