You cannot free recovery space up, or i would say you shouldn't. Also please check that there is actually a partition, make sure there is no greyed out partitions as that means that they are unassigned which would probably relate to it being of 0GB.

The issue arises because your previous Windows setup granted access to all files created on fixed drives, while your current installation follows those same permission rules. Deleting partitions removes both the old data and the permissions tied to them. Reformatting the new drive will restore access according to your present OS settings. To keep your files, avoid formatting partitions containing data. Before doing so, you may adjust security settings in File Explorer to allow access to specific partitions by editing their properties and permissions. Be careful not to grant unrestricted access, especially if you want protection. This situation depends entirely on the original configuration. Passwords and encryption cannot be bypassed here.

I managed to release additional 12GB from my SSD because the recovery area was completely free. I’m moving all my 900GB of data to an external HDD, formatting it, and then restoring the files. That process will take some time.

I switched to security mode on my HDD, but I'm not sure what I did. After that, I went to Steam and was able to install my games again.
