I checked hwinfo and noticed my power reporting deviation was low, around 30 percent when idle. When I play a game, it spikes to 40 percent. That’s causing stuttering in games, so I’m concerned this might be an issue. Could you please share a screenshot above? The CPU is 5900x and the motherboard is a B550 MAG Tomahawk. Thanks!

These figures only apply to stock performance when the CPU is operating at full capacity. If the CPU isn’t at 100% load—such as during Cinebench—and you’re not running stock, you can safely disregard those values. The hover text clarifies this.

You might want to test the CPU under full load to confirm its stability. With a 5900X running PBO, Cinebench shows about 105% under Cinebench but fluctuates otherwise. Generally, thermal readings and sustained performance matter more. As long as the CPU stays below 80°C and maintains a score above 20,000 in Cinebench R23 without other issues, you shouldn't worry.

Sure, just to clarify, this power shift wouldn’t lead to stutters, would it? During gameplay it reaches about 40%!

Alternatively, it could receive excessive power, leading to thermal throttling. A basic check would involve running an application that forces the CPU to operate at full capacity and observing the results.

Cinebench's multicore run will fully utilize the CPU. It serves well as a benchmark and a realistic thermal evaluation.
