Repeated stuttering in games caused by huge FPS drops and frame rates jumping from 5ms to 18ms
Hey everyone, every attempt I make to play seems to run into problems. The frame rate jumps up, causing stutters that are obvious. It becomes tough to enjoy the game once you hit the right settings, especially on titles like MW2, BF2042, PUBG, and CSGO. It doesn’t matter how low I set the graphics settings—it still shows up.
To try to fix it, I upgraded my RAM from 3700x to 5800x3D using a Hyper X Predator 3200mhz kit, swapped it with a Corsair LPX 3600mhz model, reinstalled Windows 10 and 11 Pro with all drives formatted, rebuilt the system thoroughly, and ran CSM/UFEI. Nothing changed.
When I powered on, the CPU and GPU stayed at 100%, I turned gaming mode off and on, disabled GPU scheduling, and played games in low and normal settings. I checked temperatures: CPU around 62°C, GPU at 68°C (hotspot 78°C). I adjusted the CPU clock to a fixed 3500mhz and the GPU to 1800mhz, capped framerates at 90fps, 120fps, and 144fps. The power supply was stable between 480W–520W XMP, and all voltages stayed normal.
I also tried different BIOS versions: 7B93v1J, 7B93v1I, 7B93v1F, and 7B93v1D.
I’m running out of ideas about what to do next—should I stick with Intel or is there something wrong with my setup? Thanks for your help and support!
Which game are you running? At 1440P resolution, the RTX3070 might not have enough VRAM...
Check if you have the newest AMD chipset drivers. Is XMP enabled? Does it run a stable XMP profile? Is the GPU limited to 1080p or struggling at 1440p? Have you turned off MultiPlane Overlay MPO? Is Windows updated? Operating system version 10 or 11?
No, I don't use G hub for my Logitech gear. I've noticed several problems with it in the past, so it wouldn't be ideal for games like CSGO.
Currently all my games are playing at 1080P, but I’ve been focusing too much on solving the problem that I haven’t had a chance to address yet.
I already have GHUB installed to manage them. I plan to uninstall it and check if that resolves the problem.
Checking AMD or the older MSI models. Disabling the Game Bar or Xbox bar?
