I tried setting up a custom filter to move all emails from @homewarescompany to a deleted folder, then activated it in my inbox. It seemed to skip the initial part and randomly deleted around 10,000 emails, most of which didn’t appear to be from that sender. The issue was similar to searching for something in your mail and getting unrelated results—just like the filter behaved unexpectedly.

Alright, okay... that hurts a bit. If you define the guidelines correctly, they tend to function well. Luckily, it won’t erase your trash can unless you change that setting. It can be a bit frustrating at times.

The goal was to relocate the mail to a local file following certain guidelines. It’s simpler to handle locally rather than dealing with delays from the IMAP connection.

Sure, I can help with that. Looking for a free, user-friendly email client? There are several great options like Thunderbird or Mailcow, which offer solid features without cost.

I'm using Outlook because I have an Office.com subscription. Use your Microsoft account if you'd like to open one. ... uncertain but I believe Outlook is free... this article might help... https://uk.pcmag.com/productivity/147239...s-for-2023 seems like Thunderbird could be a good choice.

Thunderbird handled the task well despite a few hiccups. It managed to remove over 2500 emails smoothly, though it took a bit longer than expected.
