Ryzen 3xx models generate significantly more heat compared to Ryzen 1xxx or 2xxx. Temperatures exceeding 50°C are manageable, especially with a 120mm Noctua cooler. Running above 80°C without throttling is possible and won’t harm the CPU. Undervolting definitely improves performance—lower temperatures and better power efficiency were achieved by enabling AMD Overclocking with a fixed voltage and multiplier. It wasn’t overly complicated.
Ryzen processors remain stable up to around 90°C, meaning your temperatures shouldn’t be a concern. Adjusting voltages can offer many advantages when done properly. You can modify your PBO offset in the BIOS and apply a negative value there. Moderate undervolting generally doesn’t hurt performance—it often improves it—though the exact setting varies by system. Begin with a -10 offset and gradually lower it to around -25, as you might start to see reduced boosts. Since each CPU behaves differently, you’ll need to discover your optimal setting. For my 5900X, -25 worked well; some users prefer -30 or even lower, but I found -25 to be ideal.
