I recently upgraded my PC's motherboard and CPU to an Asrock B850M and a Ryzen 5 9600X. Everything seems assembled and the system boots into BIOS. The BIOS recognizes both SATA and M.2 drives, but no boot devices are detected. I attempted a fresh Windows install, but the PC repeatedly tries to boot from USB without success. CSM is turned off because I can't enable it without the screen going black. I managed to get CSM working for one boot, showing both drives in boot priority, but it then restarted to a black screen. I'm confused—this has happened before in my 5-year-old PC, and I've never faced something like this. I can't access boot priority since there are no drives listed, yet both are detected. Every time I enable CSM, I have to bridge the CMOS reset pins to return to the BIOS menu, where it's disabled again.

CSM is a compatibility support module. It’s best to avoid using it unless you’re working with very old or proprietary hardware, similar to how Secure Boot is handled. What Windows version are you attempting to install? When was the installation USB created?

The instructions provided were useful for a previous setup, but they aren't necessary for your current configuration. Here’s a concise version of the steps:

1. Disconnect all SATA and USB devices; ensure only the NVMe drive is connected.
2. Navigate to BIOS settings and disable the CSM option.
3. Enable secure boot for another operating system, not Windows UEFI.
4. Clear the secure boot keys in Key Management.
5. Use a USB drive with a UEFI bootable Windows 10 ISO.
6. Press F10 to save, exit, and restart the PC.
7. Windows will install using its built-in NVMe driver.
8. During reboot, press F2 to adjust boot priority; your Windows boot manager should appear under NVMe.
9. Re-enable secure boot and set it to Windows UEFI mode.
10. In Key Management, install the default secure boot keys.
11. Press F10 again to complete installation.
12. Power off and reconnect any remaining SATA drives.

The NVMe appeared in the boot priority list, but the problem occurs when starting the drive—screen turns black with a tiny white line in the top left corner.

I removed every USB port, including the mouse and keyboard, from the device and it still powers up with a completely blank screen showing only a white line.

It seems you're asking about the BIOS and whether HDMI is connected to the motherboard. Would you like me to explain what the BIOS does or help with any updates?

Bios was updated to the latest version. Would using a DP cable affect HDMI performance?

Wilco heads off to work. He'll attempt it once he's back.
