I’m considering a mid-range build. The current configuration includes:
Corsair 750e PSU
Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard
AMD FX8350 8-core processor
32GB ballistic RAM at 3600MHz DDR3
Nvidea RTX 2080 Super with 8GB VRAM
Audio built-in
One Corsair LL120 exhaust fan in the rear
Two Corsair LL140 exhaust fans on top
Two Corsair LL140 intake fans front
All RGB components linked to an RGB controller and hub, managed via ICUE software.
The system runs on an Ostrog Enermax ATX mid-tower (planning to replace it).
I’m seeking opinions on this setup.
Looking for content creator configurations. I have some suggestions for improvements and would value any feedback.
It's a really complicated setup. A 2080 Super on a platform with decreasing efficiency around 1050 Ti/1060 would have lasted quite a while.
The CPU is quite outdated and might restrict the GPU performance at 1440p or even 4k. Laughing at this, just because you're using an old AMD CPU doesn't mean you should ignore its current capabilities. I own the 7700x and it handles everything smoothly. In fact, the CPU is so powerful that my RX 6800 reaches its limits even at 1080p. I intend to upgrade the PSU eventually. The rest of the system looks fine except for the CPU, though I'm uncertain about the impact of RAM speed differences between DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5. It would be challenging to compare fairly without a CPU that supports all three types, which doesn't exist.
I don't even get it. I started with a 750ti and just got upgraded to the 2080. It was a gift. I'm sure my CPU and RAM are not great, so definitely upgrading them would help.
If you're looking for a solid setup, the 12600K with around 6000 dimms works well. For 1080P, the 2080 Super is a decent choice. If you want something more powerful, the RX 7800 XT offers a significant performance boost, roughly twice what the 12600K provides.

depends a lot on your budget, that's why the GPU is okay to use. To be honest, CPU, motherboard, and RAM are enough, but without a budget reference it's tough to say. I don't agree that the 2080 Super is just a 1080p card; I'm using a 2060 Super at 1440p without any problems. AMD CPUs work well and can be more efficient in some situations. I own an FX 8350, so I know how frustrating it can be to switch from Intel to AMD after Ryzen. Also, are you based in the UK or USA? That helps us find better solutions and compare prices.
