Lots of people are complaining about lag and frame drops when playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. A helpful guide exists here for fixing these problems with the game's 2019 version [Last updated in 2020]. Do you have another graphics card to test? Maybe it is your power supply unit? https://www.asus.com/Power-Supply-Unit/ROG-STRIX-750G/ You might need a stock 2080ti power supply rated at 650 watts. NVIDIA says the FE card only needs 260 watts. https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator They recommend a 750-watt PSU for the video memory stress test, but that test isn't very useful. I don't think it runs properly on 2080ti cards and there is no update in the last three or four years. My problems with Final Fantasy 15 were caused when builders sanded down walls to let dust get into my graphics card's VRAM. This made it overheat, causing stuttering and screen freezes. Lowering the VRAM from +1000 to +750 fixed that issue. In other games like Destiny 2, the VRAM didn't freeze but caused occasional lag or dropped frames. It happens rarely enough that I didn't notice it much until now. Blowing dust out of the heat sink and VRAM area stopped my Final Fantasy 15 problems. This also let me overclock the VRAM back to its normal speed. That fixed my issues in game Control as well. Overclocking can be a pain, but stock speeds are pretty safe for most games.
Hi everyone! Here is what I have: a 2080ti with roger strix 32gb of ram that runs at 2900hz and 700w power. The motherboard is be quiet straight, the cpu is an i7 6700k running at 4.5ghz with low voltage, and I have a solid system for gaming.
I bought this rig two weeks ago. It has a big ssd drive holding my windows and most of my games, plus a smaller hard drive too. For the last few weeks, some games like battlefield 1 and cod mw are lagging sometimes while others like red dead redemption or batman arkham knight run perfectly fine.
I tried reinstalling windows many times and even changed drivers from nvidia again and again without fixing anything. I also had a chance to put in my friend's graphics card, but nothing helped. Everything worked great until I overcooked the system for eight hours, and that must have broken either the cpu or motherboard or ram.
I went back to default settings with oc off and it didn't matter at all. Since I couldn't change the cpu or ram right now, I'm going to try overclocking again next week. It HAS to be one of those things because if not, ALL games would lag. Sometimes the fps goes down with stutter in some games but no lag in others... I don't know what's wrong!
Also, when I lowered the resolution from 1440p to 1080p or lower, the frames per second stayed the same. Did I really break my cpu? The overall usage and temps look normal in the screenshots.
I checked another GPU, nothing changed and it still lags too. My power supply has plenty of room to spare, and the CPU only uses about 90 watts even in games. There is no extra power left for anything else so all those games would have problems if I added more power. I haven't tried swapping out the CPU yet but I'm pretty sure it's broken. Watch this video maybe you can figure something out? In every game, the FPS never goes up when using DSR even on high resolution settings that is normal. I think my CPU broke or something?
