I recently purchased a new Maximus VIII Formula. My current RAM, a Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666 MH z (SKU: CMK32GX4M2A2666C16), isn't compatible with my motherboard—it displays a 55 Q-Code, indicating "Memory not installed." But it functions on my old ASUS Z170-E board, which is listed in the manual’s QVL section. This suggests either the QVL list is outdated or the RAM isn’t suited for this motherboard. Alternatively, the slots might not support the RAM type. I've reset the RAM multiple times, used only one stick, checked all slots, and pressed the reset button on the Maximus MoBo Disabled XMP via the Z170-E. The previous owner confirmed it worked with 3000 MHz RAM. I’m confused and don’t have any other DDR4 options. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked if the BIOS is updated? The RAM appears to function properly.

sounds like a dead CPU if no ram works in any slot. What is your CPU in the board.

Great! I made the update to version 3801 with the FlashBack feature.

The CPU functions properly on your older model, which is why you might expect similar performance on the newer one.

It might be the board itself. A 6700k should fit any BIOS for a Z170 since it originally supported it. I’d retrieve your CPU and examine the socket pins to confirm they’re intact. Please share the photos so we can review them together.

I'm confident nothing is broken. I'll share a photo once I'm back—this might take a while since I'm currently away.

It’s likely the issue stems from damaged traces, a missing component, or faulty pins connecting to the CPU’s power management unit.
