I recently purchased RAGE and after a few texture adjustments (config file and inspector settings), I'm really pleased with it. What do you think about the game? I remember it had issues when it launched and required manual tweaks to run smoothly, with noticeable texture seams and pop-ins that were frustrating. Now it feels much better. I find it manageable on normal difficulty, the story is minimal so far, but the controls are solid, gameplay is varied, and the art direction is appealing.
It seems others are linking it to Tomb Raider, though it actually offered some interesting material. I lost interest quickly after two days, especially since it was on the PS3.
I tried it on the Xbox 360 when it came out. There was a friend who bought random games, and it was fine with me too. It was just the first time I played it. I didn’t think it was exciting enough for another round. Still, I really enjoyed the city scenes.
Beyond the major technical problems at launch, most reviews described it as a decent but not outstanding title. It’s the kind of game that offers good fun once you’ve picked it up after a price reduction a couple of years later, especially after receiving updates and fixes.
I anticipated the problems ahead so I fixed it and adjusted the game before playing. I learned the DLC enhanced the narrative but I experienced it well before its release. The main issue was its brevity and a disappointing conclusion—just a brief, underwhelming finish.
