Question9070xt?
Question9070xt?
Does the 9070xt justify its cost based on performance and value?
It depends on what you're currently using.
The 9070xt offers strong value for its price and performance.
I'm considering replacing my 7900xtx with one.
I'll wait for genuine third-party reviews before making the decision.
If it performs better and is similar in raster quality to my 7900xtx, I think switching to the 9070xt makes sense.
I spent $2000 on my 7900xtx two years ago at a 600 msrp plus AIB increases; if the 9070xt is a close alternative around $1300, it would be a good deal.
I don't believe your typical 9070 XT will surpass a 7900 XTX. Perhaps the top-performing 9070 XT could match a mediocre 7900 XTX, but most of these latter models also offer sufficient overclocking potential. Ray tracing presents another challenge. Would a strong 9070 XT be able to outperform a 7900 XTX? I think so, based on what I've observed thus far.
I also came across another forum post with a helpful article. If you own a 7900xt or xtx, this might be relevant for you.
The 3DMark Time Spy scores indicate that graphics scores above 34,500 are in the top 1% for the 7900 XTX. It's impressive how well this player's card performs, but it's clear they're a dedicated enthusiast. Those with a 7900 XTX shouldn't expect to reach such high numbers. Since I plan to use it for another 2-3 years, I'm capping the power at 400W now. The RT scores seem better than anticipated, though I haven't played many RTd games yet—I might consider starting soon. It's possible the 7900 XTX will remain a top choice for raster and RT on AMD.
From Tom’s perspective, the 5070 mostly displayed the xtx ahead of the 5070. I’m just pleased to have a two-year warranty from Microcenter, so if my card fails, I can return it and get a replacement with the same value.
I won't be swapping my RX 7900XTX, but I will definitely replace my wife's Dell OEM RX 6900 XT. The card reaches 89°C globally and 101°C on the hotspot each time it runs a game. This is due to an undervolt setting in the adrenalin software; without it, it was hitting 92 and 108°C.
