what do you mean by snap back together like i just put both of them in the thing or i need to connect the 4 pins back to the rest of the pins because i'm trying but when i try to put both inside it feels like im about to break it

i'm having trouble pushing the pins into position and then inserting them into the motherboard, but my hands are getting sore.

Verify the plug placement.
Various forms exist, and if you're not attentive, you might be attempting to force a square into a circular space.

The individual pins are "keyed" in various ways—some square, others with rounded edges—which is why the term "round" is used. The keying is meant to prevent incorrect orientation when inserting the connector.
