Question YouTube Video Error on Chrome - Need Help
Hi everyone,
I’m facing a problem with YouTube videos in Google Chrome. Whenever I load a video, I see an error message, but when I refresh the page it works perfectly.
The browser is installed on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon.
I’ve already tried several solutions:
Cleared cache and cookies, turned off all extensions, used incognito mode, disabled hardware acceleration, reset network settings, reinstalled Chrome, and even tried Firefox since the issue seems specific to Chrome.
It appears this problem only happens with YouTube and not elsewhere. Anyone else had a similar experience or any recommendations? Appreciate your help!
It seems there might be a DNS issue. Have you attempted switching to Google's DNS addresses? If the problem persists, consider using Cloudflare.
I just attempted to alter the DNS settings, but nothing worked. I'm unsure of any other options besides using Chromium, which also doesn't seem to help.
Did you restart your PC and modem following the changes? Is there a DNS server address configured within your modem? When did the process begin—after the update, when new software was installed, etc.?
You might also attempt to open Chrome in 'Safe Mode,' providing a minimal, unmodified experience without any add-ons or extensions. Good idea!
Yes, I've completed everything. It occurred roughly two weeks ago; everything seemed fine one day, but the next it started showing errors. At first, I dismissed it since Google is known for certain behaviors. After sharing this, I installed Chromium without issues, though I'm hesitant to use it daily because some Chrome features aren't available in Chromium, such as microphone access. I plan to investigate further, possibly checking the config files in my home directory (~/.config), which are often left behind after uninstalling apps. I'll update you once I've addressed this. Thank you for your patience.
