Question Strange stability problems reported with a Ryzen 9 3900XT?
I was attempting to upgrade my CPU recently. I managed to get the system to boot into the start menu consistently, but after a short time or during tasks like running Cinebench, the screen disappears, the fans spin at full speed, and the power button fails to respond. The date and time also become incorrect even after resetting the CMOS. The previous CPU worked without these problems.
What are the full details about this setup (model numbers of every part installed)? Information is important.
Did you modify the BIOS before changing the CPUs?
Have you swapped out the motherboard's coin battery?
Apologies
Updated CPU to Ryzen 9 3900X
Switched from Ryzen 3 1200
Mobo AsRock X370 Taichi
64GB DDR4 RAM with Gskill Trident RGB 3200
Nvidia GTX1050 Ti GPU
Power supply 850W ThermalRight 80Plus Gold
Storage SanDisk 2TB 2.5" SSD
I already replaced the CMOS battery, used a Duracell CR2032, unsure if another is better. No BIOS updates needed at this version.
The temps in the bios screen seemed fine all around 30-40c after restarting ive tried two different power supplies could there be a setting in my bios not getting enough or too much power to cpu? I have also tried reseating the cpu and cooler with fresh paste yes
ram sticks available for 2800 or 2993 models
3200 performance on four sticks is generally unreliable, depends on the CPU and motherboard.
Two sticks might reach 3200, but it's not a sure thing—some systems are sensitive to memory modules.
