Question Random stutters without any fps drops after a day of achieving the best overclock
I had to understand what a stable overclock for the clock on my RAM was, and I wasn’t sure where my computer began behaving strangely. After doing an overclock on my RAM for roughly four months, it started acting up about two months later. Games became unplayable, I was getting around 30 FPS, and the screen was extremely choppy. I thought I had fixed it, but it came back. Then I reinstalled Windows, cleared the CMOS on my BIOS, and still faced issues—choppy performance. Yesterday, after adjusting the CPU socket voltage a bit during another overclock attempt, it worked for a short time, but didn’t last more than a day. Now I’ve reset the BIOS, but the problem persists. Any advice or possible causes?
So I removed the CMOS, reinstalled the games, and reinstalled Windows. I also tried using OC's and non-OC versions as mentioned before.
Next steps will involve replacing my PC parts one by one... it seems like there’s nothing else left to do here, right?
This issue popped up unexpectedly. It sometimes causes choppy performance or stuttering in new zones but not in old ones. Occasionally I experience stutters without FPS drops, and other times the drops are sudden.
I really don’t know where to begin troubleshooting—it could be any part of my PC causing this...
It seems strange, but after unplugging two USB ports it suddenly worked fine. I don’t think that was the main reason, and I’ll test other games and situations to confirm. Could it be my 700W PSU reached its limit? Removing those two slots might have freed up capacity? Here’s a clip right after what you shared.
USB hard disks tend to sleep and lead to the GUI freezing while they spin up again. They also slow down the startup time of my PC when used with a USB drive. It might be due to electrical interference from the ports—could those USB connections be faulty? Have you noticed similar sounds in your headphones or on your computer? The video remains private, so no one else can see it.
So i also tested vram, this seems to have some issues or do these "test fails" not say anything?
this is the vram result
Changing video mode to 640x480x16...OK

I will change out components on the weekend until then im trying software related stuff.
The electrical noise came from my pc, also think it was coil whine from my 2080 ti but i knew it had this problem. now the coilwhine only comes back when i play heavy load games.
The video is not private anymore now.
also appears to be a "frame skip" issue in modern warfare as demonstrated in this video

many other games don't face such problems, fps shooters and some titles like final fantasy 15 do have similar issues. what could cause this? i think i'll have to wait and see in the weekend
