Question Random couple second black screens during gaming
Question Random couple second black screens during gaming
Hi,
I just purchased a brand new custom-built PC and have been experiencing random blackouts while playing games. The screen stays dark for a few seconds after I move my mouse or react in-game, but I can still control the game. This has happened with the following titles:
Warframe – during mission start or joining, the orbiter loading screen with random flight options goes black for a couple of seconds.
Yet, this does not happen at any other part of the game except that specific loading phase.
League of Legends – the problem appears unexpectedly, whether I’m fighting or just moving between lanes, without any clear cause or warning.
PC specifications:
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i9 24-Core Processor i9-13900K (3.0GHz) 36MB Cache
Motherboard
GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS MASTER (LGA1700, DDR5, USB 3.2, PCIe 5.0, WIFI6E) - ARGB Ready
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair DOMINATOR PLATINUM RGB DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB)
Graphics Card
24GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4090 - HDMI, DP
Power Supply
CORSAIR 1000W RMx SERIES™ - MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Change to: 1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Monitor is
G70A UHD, 144Hz, HDMI 2.1 Odyssey Gaming Monitor
The connection between the monitor and GPU uses a display port cable. I’m running both games at 4k resolution with the display set to 144Hz in settings. I also switched power-saving mode to performance, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
It’s important to mention that every 10th restart or boot causes the PC to freeze or emit three beeps with the code D6.
Although this machine is only about two months old, it has a warranty, so I’m considering sending it back if I suspect hardware problems.
I’m okay with occasional freezes during startup, but the black screen during gameplay is really annoying and breaks immersion.
I hope someone here can offer advice or suggestions.
Thank you!

Z790 AORUS MASTER (rev. 1.0) Support | Motherboard - GIGABYTE Global (function with parameters)
Begin by downloading and installing the latest BIOS update for your motherboard. The F8a version is currently available on the manufacturer's website. You can perform the BIOS update using the GIGABYTE Control Center application. It might be helpful to review this guide beforehand.
To reset the BIOS settings, access the BIOS setup tool and select the option to reset to default configurations. The specific menu path may vary depending on your motherboard model, but you should look for terms such as "reset to default," "factory defaults," or "clear BIOS."
The process of clearing CMOS can also involve reinserting the CMOS battery. Ensure your computer is disconnected before opening the case. Remove the battery for a few minutes, then reinsert it and close the case. This action interrupts the power supply that maintains BIOS settings, effectively resetting them to their original state.
Another method is to short the CLEAR CMOS jumper on your motherboard, if present. Always confirm your computer is unplugged before handling internal components. Search for a jumper labeled CLEAR CMOS on the board, which is typically near the BIOS chip or adjacent to the battery. These jumpers may also be referred to by other names like CLRPWD, PASSWORD, or simply CLEAR.
Proceed with caution during these steps. If you feel uncertain, seek assistance from someone more experienced.
Hello, thank you for your message.
After completing all the troubleshooting steps, the problem seems to continue.
I wonder if it could be related to a G-SYNC issue?
Hi, I'm still trying to figure out if G-SYNC could be the issue. However, someone suggested testing with another display like a TV or monitor to see if the problem persists. It's also possible the cable might be faulty. Based on what we've noticed, your system seems stable unless the black screen appears later in the game, which would point to something else. You might want to try playing other demanding PC games to help identify the cause.
