Question about wireless mouse jitter?
Check if freezes happen when only the wireless mouse is connected.
Review the open Reliability History and Event Viewer.
Search for any error codes, warnings, or informational events near the time of freezes.
Begin with Reliability History; the timeline might reveal patterns.
Event Viewer isn't as intuitive as it could be.
Navigate through the logs and search for errors or warnings.
Occasionally, the system needs a moment to display any log entries.
Full logs can be removed and reviewed again after some time.
It’s possible to clear them and check later without sifting through old data.
Drive performance issues may signal a failing or weak PSU.
Two additional tools help with troubleshooting: Task Manager and Resource Monitor. Use them one at a time.
Open either and watch how the system behaves while you move the mouse or connect/disconnect the drive.
You mentioned the computer is only a month old—still under warranty?
(We aim not to actions that could cancel the warranty.)
Also, are you certain to back up all important data at least twice, in separate locations away from the computer? Remember to confirm the backups can be recovered and accessed properly.
The mouse has delays both when connected and when disconnected. Interestingly, the lag disappears when I connect the mouse dongle to the USB hub linked to my backup drive. Maybe the wireless card is causing the issue?
Yes, it's possible to assess a PSU to some degree. You'll require a multimeter and understanding of its usage. Or, you could enlist someone experienced.

This isn't a complete evaluation since the PSU isn't operating under load. Any readings beyond specifications suggest the PSU may be beginning to degrade or fail.
Not the best choice overall—ethically questionable and even with a 400-watt power supply working, it falls short of the recommended wattage. The PSU might struggle with USB power needs, and there could be other hidden problems. However, if the computer and PSU are only a month old, a warranty might still apply. It’s best to file a claim if you proceed. Overdoing it could void the warranty.
Yeah, I did pay for the extra warranty. Will they still consider it even though I added a case fan, more memory, and another SSD? Plus, I faced the same issue with the previous computer I bought, which was on open box and got replaced with a new one. Both models were identical.
