It seems the CPU pins were bent. I'm not sure why this happened since I didn't drop it. It only works in one direction.

It's quite simple to do this.
If you needed to move the chip to settle it, it could easily be harmed.
The sockets can handle up to 15 insertions.
You should be able to straighten the pins back in.

Yes you must move the locking plate forward and keep it in place first, before adjusting the locking lever to lock it securely. Skipping this step might cause bent processor socket pins. Just to confirm, A2 and B2 are the standard positions for two memory sticks on the Z790 E board.
