Firefox isn't sure, but newer versions of Internet Explorer tend to be quicker than Chrome. For a browser that runs well on $100 tablets with just 1-2GB of RAM, IE can be very light.

chrome is recognized for consuming a lot of memory. It might be using up a significant portion of your RAM. With around 50 open tabs in two windows, it could be taking up about 80% of your 8GB.

That's why I've stopped using Chrome entirely for about three years now. You might be surprised—my primary browser used to be IE and now Safari. They perform smoothly without much effort or performance issues. I prefer something straightforward and dependable.
