The issue is clear from the start. My dad purchased an OEM code for Windows 7 Home Premium, but when the installer requests it, it doesn’t activate. He contacted the seller, who advised him to use a different installer tailored for the OEM version. This problem has been bothering me for some time since I’ve searched extensively without success.

He attempted to download the .ISO file from the Microsoft site but it wouldn't work with his activation key. He also tried entering the key on the official Microsoft page, but that didn't help either.

The seller must supply the installation media per MS rules; otherwise you might have been cheated.

I don't have a purchase history. Could you clarify where you're asking about?

He mentioned it earlier, so I’m not sure. I’ll ask him to reach out to the seller:

It seems he received a functional download link, but when installing it, the activation code failed. He attempted to use the same .ISO file on his older laptop, which worked without any issues. This suggests the problem could be specific to his newer machine, possibly due to a different Windows version installed on the hard drive partition. He obtained the Win 7 key because his laptop originally came with Windows 8.1, then upgraded to Windows 10, and he prefers Windows 7. Blergh. Appreciate the assistance!

There isn't a dedicated installer for OEM Windows 7. It seems like a modified or cracked version. For Windows 7, the installer must always request an activation key, though it offers a temporary skip option. On Windows 8 and newer, the license is embedded in the BIOS and activates automatically after setup.
