Purchase the SSD immediately or hold off until Windows 10 is released?
Hi. I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I was originally planning on waiting for windows 10 to be released (I hate installing all my programs etc and if I buy one now I would have to do it twice in ~2 months.) The reason I'm a bit wary now is because I'm not sure whether the free upgrade would allow it to be as simple as getting a .iso of windows 10, and using my windows 8.1 activation key to upgrade to windows 10. I never like updating and always prefer clean installs (OCD...). I'm pretty sure (could be wrong) that even if I do wait to get an SSD after windows 10 is released, I would have to install windows 8.1 first and then upgrade via windows updates, rather than installing windows 10 directly. If the latter is the case, I think I'd be better off buying an SSD now, and if the former is the case then I could wait to get an SSD, reformat my hard drive, and download windows 10 directly. What do you guys think?
It looks like the Samsung 850 EVO is frequently available these days, making it a good time to buy without delay.
It's still available for a discount on NewEgg, but you'll need to arrange international shipping.
Yes. I've got windows, most of my programs, steam, skyrim, and world of tanks on there, still plenty of room left. (Half the SSD is still free for me though I've also got a 750gb hdd and 500gb hdd for backups, other games, other programs, recordings, etc..)
