Processor slows down over time when operating at full capacity
You're experiencing a drop in CPU performance on Folding@Home. It's possible this behavior is typical, especially if your system is running in turbo mode initially. The fact that your cooler runs at 4,66 GHz and then adjusts to around 4,33 GHz after a short period suggests normal thermal management. Overclocking hasn't been done, so the issue might be related to ambient temperature or workload intensity. Intel XTU's TDP behavior also aligns with manufacturer specifications. The maximum power setting is set by Intel. On my ASUS Hero I needed to open the BIOS then press the CMOS button on the I/O shield, choosing either F1 or F3. When I navigate the BIOS screen, MCE is activated and causes the i9 10900k to overheat, preventing Thermal Velocity boost from functioning. Other motherboards likely use comparable steps.
The minor issue is that CPU temperatures remain acceptable at 125 W (just under 70°C), yet they rise into the 70s and low 80s during boost, then decrease once the turbo shuts down.
