It's typical to adjust the BIOS settings and check the motherboard defaults. Also, keep an eye on the CPU temperature.

The maximum power setting is set by Intel. On my ASUS Hero I needed to open the BIOS then press the CMOS button on the I/O shield, choosing either F1 or F3. When I navigate the BIOS screen, MCE is activated and causes the i9 10900k to overheat, preventing Thermal Velocity boost from functioning. Other motherboards likely use comparable steps.

The minor issue is that CPU temperatures remain acceptable at 125 W (just under 70°C), yet they rise into the 70s and low 80s during boost, then decrease once the turbo shuts down.
