DDR4 generates relatively little heat, making the LEDs—especially the Vengeance RGB—likely the main source of warmth. It’s possible temperature sensors are positioned near those lights, though it still feels quite warm. This could result from insufficient cooling or excessively high room temperatures paired with inadequate airflow.
@Eighjan mentioned this in my first message—it's Corsair iCUE, and I confirmed HWiNFO64 matches the readings. @Mateyyy I'm puzzled about achieving better airflow; I'm using four ML120 fans for intake (push-pull on a H100i v2) and three ML140 exhausts (one at the back, two on top), yet idle temps remain high. You're likely correct about the sensor near the LEDs. @TofuHaroto The key point is I've never experienced any stability problems.
I recently connected a spare 120mm fan to the motherboard and adjusted its position manually toward the RAM. After a few minutes, the temperature dropped to around 58°, but it quickly returned to 65-70° within seconds once the fan was removed. I’m confident the readings are accurate since an external sensor matches them. I can only briefly touch the RAM—no more than 2-3 seconds—and it stays much cooler than the GPU, which is currently at 60° even at idle. During gameplay, it rises above 80°C.
