Problems with DisplayPort detection?
Hello everyone, just finished setting up my new rig. The details are: everything functions correctly except for one issue—DisplayPort devices aren’t being detected. I’m trying to connect multiple monitors, all identical, and both use HDMI but neither works on DisplayPort. When the other monitor is connected via HDMI, it picks it up. I’ve installed the required graphics drivers and the monitors’ built-in drivers, but that didn’t help much. I attempted to use DisplayPort on one monitor during the first boot, but it failed, which is why I switched to HDMI for the main display. Anyone have ideas? I don’t have any spare cables to test, and I’m using a brand new setup. Also, I’m not using an adapter—just a direct male-to-male cable from the monitor straight to the graphics card. Additionally, I want to note this to anyone planning to get the Corsair 750D with Maximum IV—don’t do it. I had to remove the motherboard armor so it would fit in the case, as the standoffs are built into the backplate, not risers.
Apologies for taking everyone's time—problem resolved. It was discovered that 'Balanced' power disables DisplayPort on Windows 8. Switching to High Performance and reconnecting fixed the issue. If you encounter this, I’m confident the fix works. Feel free to save this!
I'm not sure which version you're referring to. The same issue can appear in both Windows 7 and Windows 8, but the options might differ slightly between them.
He seems to be talking about the Power Control settings in the Control Panel. I always keep my Windows desktop version at High Performance. I own a 7870 with DisplayPort, and I haven’t experienced any problems with Windows 7 or 8.
Did that resolve your problem? I've just purchased three units and am almost ready to send them back. If they don't function stably with HDMI, I'll return them. The display port is definitely not working—eventually or after a reboot, I'll have to unplug the displays to get them to work. Meanwhile, I'm experiencing many crashes and freezes when using the DisplayPort I'm currently using with the 660ti SLI.
It looks like you're experiencing the same issue with your GTX 970 SSC screen, which is now about two months old. This happened recently too, and you managed to fix it without updating anything at the time. Now it's reoccurring, so you might want to try updating your drivers again.
I've encountered similar problems with MSI GTX 1070/Asus VG248QE before. The usual fix was disconnecting the power from the monitor for a short while. This time I tried another approach—plugging in the monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort, and it worked. The display recognized the secondary monitor (DP). Hope this helps someone else who's facing the same issue.
I've encountered the same issue before it resolved itself after a short time. Now I'm ready to fix it. My setup includes DVI-D at 120Hz and a displayport at 144Hz. I'm using a 1070 STRIX monitor, which is an Acer XB240H model. I've tried everything except the BIOS update, and I think that's my final attempt... sorry, my English isn't great—my native language is Spanish.
