I’m working on setting up Windows 10 and hit this issue right after copying files. The message says: “File: \windows\System32\drivers\tcpip.sys The operating system couldn't be loaded because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors.” Your setup looks solid overall—your hardware seems fine. You’ve already cleared Windows 7 with dban and bought a new drive. Try connecting the USB directly to the PC instead of using the old drive, and ensure the system power is stable. If problems persist, check for any pending updates or reinstall the driver manually. Let me know what happens next!

If you reach the command prompt after Startup Repair, follow these steps: Trouble Shoot -> Advanced Options -> Command Prompt CMD> bootrec /scanos CMD> bootrec /rebuildbcd CMD> bootrec /fixmbr CMD> bootrec /fixboot Reboot.

Display the section of the setup where you select the drives.

I'm worried it won't go that far. I plugged in the Windows 10 USB, turned on the PC, navigated to my boot options, chose the drive, and a screen showed copying files. After it finished, I got a screenshot of the original post. For a short time—just a half second or less—the Windows 10 icon appeared before the screenshot appeared.

I’d plug it into a different machine and reset the file system.

Consider mounting on a regular SATA disk, not a M.2 slot. Opt for another USB connection, such as the one on the rear panel. The $200 fee includes a retail license with a key card.

I purchased the drive already set up with Windows 10, and I don’t have an ISO to reformat it. I might look for one elsewhere. I could also test it on another computer to determine if the issue lies with my system or the drive itself.

It supports PCIe. I own the 240GB model there.
