You installed Windows 7 64 bit on your son's PC and encountered issues with boot options, where the first choice doesn't work. This might be due to a corrupted boot file or conflicting settings. To fix it, you can try reinstalling the OS, checking for updates, or using a recovery media. If you need further help, feel free to share more details.

You can't start from the saved Windows drive you made on? Check BIOS for the correct boot sequence. Disk 1 is the OS, disk 2 holds games and files. Not sure what to do, hope it works.

Regardless of the issue, it has disappeared. I typically leave my PCs on, so I hadn't restarted recently and assumed the problem remained, but it's gone. Apologies for wasting everyone's time. In short, what I recall was two Windows install options available, and if I selected the first one, it would attempt to boot but would either freeze or restart.
