My PC was running smoothly with a 9700K Aorus Ultra and 4x8 Trident z 3200C14. It booted fine until I bought a 9900K used at a good price and sold my original model. Now it won’t start with the optimized settings, even after flashing an older BIOS. It freezes during the Windows login screen, though I still hear those post beeps. The post code is “A0,” which usually appears when everything’s working. I’m confused and worried—I might have been scammed. Anyone have any advice?

Disconnect all extra storage devices and USB ports, then attempt to start again. Reset the CMOS after exchanging CPUs?

Upload a clip, notice the loading indicates the computer is starting up.

It appears there’s a stability concern. Unfortunately, you’ve retired your 9700K unit, which might not be ideal if the CPU could be the root cause. If the BIOS defaults are in place, consider lowering the CPU speed and observe if it improves performance. Also, disable Turbo Boost or similar features and run the processor at its base frequency to check for issues.

Looks like I'm in a tough spot with the CPU. I think Intel wouldn't fix it, so I'll give it another shot once I'm back home. Maybe I'll reinstall Windows—could be related to the 5.2/4.8 4000c15 OC. It might have crashed my setup somehow.

Unwanted storage devices like USB interfaces are often the issue. I checked the first time I loaded my 5.2/4.8 4000c15 profile from my 9700K, but it didn’t start—possibly damaging your system?

I'll attempt it when I get back. Fingers crossed it functions.
