Problem with CPU temperature
I observed my CPU getting warm in the task manager a few days ago, but didn’t pay much attention. Recently, my PC began struggling with a game I usually handle smoothly. On the monitor, the temperature stayed between 95-100°C (Celsius). While checking, it rose to 110-115°C and then crashed, causing the computer to shut down. After waiting, I tried booting again, but it was still around 95°C and quickly overheated even while using the desktop and running CAM. The software nzxt suggested using a cooler, which many users have reported issues with. I moved the pump to remove bubbles, checked connections, and even detached/reattached it, but the problem continued. I didn’t replace the paste, though I’m unsure if it’s the right amount. It seems like cooling should still work despite the old paste, which makes me think something might be wrong or I might be underestimating the need for fresh paste. This situation is confusing, especially since I’m not very experienced with PC setup and maintenance. Any advice would be really helpful!

1. Never purchased it new; bought it used from someone who assembled it.
2. Owned the system for roughly a year and a half, including the prior owner; it was mostly used sparingly at the time of purchase.
3. Produced various sounds during movement earlier on, but now it runs quietly except for the fan.
4. Runs an AMD Ryzen 5 3600.
5. The cooler is an NXT H510 Kraken M22.

Typically, the Kraken M22 isn't visible in CAM since it's a budget model lacking pump speed control and liquid temperature monitoring. I'd consider repasting it temporarily. The Arctic MX-4 is very affordable yet performs well. A 4g syringe should suffice for repeated use. Check YouTube for videos about AIO pump failures or unusual noises to compare with your experience.
It seems I might have misjudged the fresh paste's quality. I assumed the issue was limited to cooling an idle CPU when the problem was actually more severe than the paste suggested. Your assistance is highly valued; I plan to test it tomorrow after visiting a store. Well, it really depends on the previous paste type and how long it's been there. Some pastes wear out quicker than others, particularly under high temperatures. There was also Arctic MX-6 that got recalled because many batches degraded too quickly. Since we don’t know exactly what paste was used, I decided to try a fresh application first. Still, having thermal paste on hand is a solid habit for PC users.
I’d also choose a cooler that fits your AM4 socket. If the pump isn’t working (about 95% of the time), you’ll need to swap out the entire cooler. When it’s functioning properly, you can bring it back without any issues.
