Problem with AMD 7800XT not showing on monitor
I recently assisted a friend in assembling his initial PC. We assembled it at my residence and it functioned properly. Upon returning to his home and connecting it, the monitor remained black with no display signal. We verified all connections and switched to different ports, but the HDMI cable also failed. We tested every BIOS update as well. The GPU indicators and fans activated as expected, yet no signal appeared. It didn’t appear in the device manager either. However, it operated correctly when connected directly to the motherboard using built-in graphics. I’ve searched extensively online without success. This situation is quite frustrating.
Did you verify the power cables at the PSU and the card? Consider using a different power outlet just in case there’s any problem with the outlet at his home. It’s a bit of a stretch, but since everything seemed fine before…you wouldn’t want to send back the card. But if all else is functioning…it would be useful to find out if it still works at your place or continues to cause issues.
We essentially re-connected all the cables and tested various outlets. I'm worried we might have to return the card, but I'm not sure how it worked initially or why it seemed active when it wasn't showing. I was hoping someone more experienced could help us solve this.
The fact that it functioned and now doesn’t is intriguing. I thought it would be useful to verify if it works at your location. The system clearly operates without the card, but only by testing another one. If a new card fails, it might indicate an issue with the board. Perhaps it’s worth looking into recent bios updates for the board.
I might attempt to bring my GPU up tomorrow to check if it functions. I've already updated the BIOS. It's unclear what else might be the issue.
