You’ve just bought a new PC for your sister and are facing some issues. The system has the same specs as before—Asus X570 Prime with Ryzen 1600, an HD 6970 G, and other components. The main problem is that the computer powers off after about a second once you connect the 8-pin power adapter. It lights up and spins the fan when the 24-pin connector is inserted. After removing all hardware except the power switch, the fan still spins and lights remain on. You suspect the motherboard or CPU might be faulty. You’re hesitant to open it further because you don’t want to risk damaging the CPU or because your liquid cooler is installed. You’re considering trying the 1600 in a new motherboard, but you’re worried about compatibility. There’s a possibility the BIOS might not support the 1600 chipset anymore, which could explain the symptoms. Your next move is to install the CPU in the existing board, but it’s risky given the price and stock availability. You’re also concerned about the signs of an incompatible BIOS and fear damaging the motherboard if you try a different setup.

You’re left with no option but to proceed—it’s the sole method to confirm whether the CPU failed or the board is beyond repair.

They didn't reference PC issues; it's possible you were scammed.

Confirm all connections match the correct 8-pin configuration.

I bought components separately from Newegg for each unit. Both machines are functioning perfectly. The other one seems to be having issues.

I also used the 4+4 CPU and the 8 CPU. Both encountered the same problem.

The PC boots using the 1600 motherboard, RAM, and PSU. It looks like an RMA MMO card. Before submitting a ticket, double-check any other components or connections.

The QVL for CPUs isn't available here. No 1xxx series models appear on it. Confirm if you're using the same motherboard.

They match exactly. You're correct about the CPU not appearing on the supported list. It's possible ASUS is removing the 1000 series to make space for the 5000 series. Since my board boots fine with the CPU but I haven't updated to a 5000 series BIOS, it might be worth trying a flashback. My motherboard is about two years old, and I'm considering using the 3900x to test the process.

Impressive choice. The X570 isn't disabled; it's just not the most affordable option among many budget-friendly CPU alternatives.
