These were enjoyable experiences but not exactly what I was looking for. One of the final games I really wanted to play online was Gratuitious Space Battles. Eventually, they added a campaign mode where you encountered fleets used by other players during your journey across the campaign map, conquering planets.
The game aimed to create a variety of simple orders—like moving toward enemies, staying in motion, maintaining formation, or guarding—before the match began. Each encounter was essentially a simulation of two imagined fleets sailing under their own commands without any real control. There were three distinct fleet classes: fighters, destroyers, battleships, each with unique bonuses. Some depended on race selection, others on class, weapon slots, armor, shield slots, and utility slots that managed energy barracks, etc., all influenced by mass, energy consumption, and more.
We’re craving something similar again... for the newcomers.
Of course, it's worth noting how everything feels harmful and challenging. You can simply type "a" in a chat, and it's likely someone will get upset and report you. I haven't noticed any gaming community being so extremely sensitive and constantly offended.
